SURFACE PREPARATION

Prior to application, surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned with a wood cleaner, a concrete cleaner and or pressure washer.  Surfaces and substrates must be free of all dirt, mildew, mold, water sealers, wood stains and other contaminants.  A power washer is a useful tool particularly in combination with a stronger cleaner when removing film-forming finishes or stains.  Thoroughly rinse surface and remove all excess water.  After cleaning, wait at least 4 to 6 hours before applying product.  Allow longer drying time on overcast or cooler days below 60 °F.  Always allow concrete or masonry surfaces to dry thoroughly 1 to 3 days before application.  Concrete that has a smooth, flat finish must be opened to allow for proper penetration.  This should be done by using a concrete etch product.  Allow concrete to dry a minimum of 72 hours after etching before applying a Water Seal.  Concrete/stucco must be completely cured a minimum of 30 days and dry.  Do not use with other water proofing products, as variations in the final appearance of the wood may result.  Can be applied immediately to new pressure treated wood

APPLICATION

Manually shake or stir contents for a minimum of 2 minutes before use.  Apply using a paint pad, brush, roller or sprayer.  If using a garden or pump up sprayer, back brushing (with a paint pad or brush) may be required to even out the sealer.  Apply Water Seal until the substrate is completely coated.  Apply uniformly and avoid over application.  Heavy runs and drips should be thoroughly brushed into the surface.  On extremely porous substrates a second coat may need to be applied immediately after the first coat has penetrated.  Control application so that the second coat is applied within a few minutes after the first coat appears dry.

Avoid puddling.  Tackiness will result if over applied.  This affect will usually correct itself over time.
